Here’s a free lesson from the Photography Masterclass. Sam Shimizu-Jones and I got together to chat about the concept of Bokeh.

What is bokeh? In this photography tutorial, we’ll talk about what bokeh is (and isn’t). Bokeh comes from the Japanese word boke and means a couple of things. It means ‘blur’ and it means the ‘quality of blur.’

Most people tend to think of bokeh as simply the round spherical shapes that happen when you have lights in the background of a photo. It is much more than that, and in this bokeh tutorial, Sam and I will try to explain it.
